Day 2 – I am grateful for DVR.  Baby girl loves her tv.  And as stated previously, I am a busy bee.  Even during a week where we were inflicted with the flu I still wasn’t able to watch half of our shows!  So on this glorious Friday night I have a date with my bed, my old ghetto tv, and my Windows Media Center DVR.  Thank you dear husband, Nick, for our wonderful home theater set up.   And thank you writers, creators and actors of the horribly guilty pleasure television shows that I do love so.  Oooohhh nooo he didn’t get thrown in jail for speeding after being shot in the chest almost dying then having his wife miscarriage unbeknownst to him!!!!!!

I’m grateful for my good friend Brett just about any day of the week.  But today especially.  She is one of the kindest, most down to earth people I know and is ALWAYS willing to lend a helping hand.   She went on craving runs while I was preggars, has been a second momma to the pups, cashes in a Friday night to hang with Caden, and the list goes on and on.

Today – I am grateful that Brett brought us Pedialyte and Gatorade.  Our entire family (in-laws included) all came down with a horrible flu virus at the exact same time (literally).  I’ll spare you the gorey details but will tell you that we haven’t been able to leave our house for 4 days now.  We were down to our last cracker and totally hurting for electrolytes.  I texted Brett and within an hour she was at our house with a case of Fruit Punch Gatorade and a bottle of Pedialyte.  If I weren’t trying to keep my distance for her own good I would have kissed her.  My entire body is aching, my head is throbbing, and all I can think about is how GRATEFUL I am that Brett came to our rescue.

I love you Brett, and I today I am grateful for your Gatorade.  Amen sister.

Since becoming a mother and deciding to start my own business from home, I’ve found that I have very little free time.  Go figure, huh?  I’ve been working really hard to find that perfect balance of mother & wife, while keeping a good home, getting a business off the ground, still having “me” time, and staying balanced and grounded.  There are days when I knock it out of the park and days where I totally fail at all of the above.  And I’m not gonna lie, I totally wouldn’t be able to even come close to meeting those goals if it weren’t for other people, random acts of kindness and little pieces of happiness found in unexpected places.  I found that at least once a day I said to myself or someone else, “I am SO grateful for this.”  And while the gratitude never leaves my heart, I thought it would be so awesome to document one each day as a reminder of all the good things in my life.  I had been thinking about this for a while, and then I randomly read about a project called “365 grateful.”  If you have a few minutes to watch this video, it will tug on your heart strings a bit and maybe inspire you to document your gratefulness as well.

With that said, starting today my journey to 365 days of gratitude begins.  Every day for one year, I will blog about one thing that I am grateful for.  Seeing as how this is a photography blog I’m going to try my damnest to incorporate an image with each post, but I’m not going to put any pressure on it or take away from what it means to me.

And for anyone who keeps up with my facebook page, you’ll know our house has been hit with a plague so due to the fact that we’ve all been bed ridden I don’t have a photo of my own to go with my first entry, but I just wanted to get this party started!

I had an action packed weekend with my in-laws and am grateful for the good weather, good times, and to be part of such a loving supportive family.  Tomorrow I’m starting a year long journey of gratitude and am very excited to share it with you all (if anyone reads this, ha!).

Between the workshop I’m taking right now and a new client that I am working with I am feeling all full of thoughts and inspiration.  I thought I’d share what’s on my mind for today:

The current issue of Anthropolgie catalog has a main spread of women in an open prairie with wild horses.  It looks like it could be the hills of Wyoming or Colorado.  As soon as I saw the front cover I just let out a sigh and a smile.  It spoke to me as soon as I saw it. Mostly the vast countryside but the tone of it too.  I can feel the chill in the air and the sun about to rise on my face.  It’s peaceful yet a little sad.  Loneliness, solitude.  A life away from the stresses of the city and suburbs.  I would be beside myself for the opportunity to photograph in such a gorgeous environment.  My inspiration for the day 🙂  And it doesn’t hurt that I’m obsessed with everything they sell.  As soon as I lose these last 20 lbs of baby weight, and book more clients, I may have to treat myself to a mini makeover….

Check out their catalog online here and see if you’re inspired too!
